The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt
Opening June 5, 2009
From the team that brought us Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharoahs comes a brand new exhibition about Cleopatra the Seventh, the last pharaoh of Egypt. The Romans tried to eradicate any trace of Cleopatra, but modern day archeologists are beginning to paint a new picture of this legendary enchantress. This exhibit follows, in part, the ongoing explorations of two of the world‘s top archeologists—Dr. Zahi Hawass , Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and French underwater archeologist Franck Goddio. On display will be some 250 astounding artifacts and statues unearthed near Alexandria and recovered from Cleopatra’s palace which, for more than 1600 years, has been hidden beneath the murky waters along the Egyptian coast.
