The 2009 Philadelphia Antiques Show
Patriots and Presidents ~ Philadelphia Portrait Miniatures, 1760-1860
April 18-21, 2009

The Philadelphia Antiques Show features 50 leading antiques dealers and galleries who continue to set the standard for outstanding quality and integrity. These exhibitors bring together the finest examples available today including period furniture, folk and fine art, ceramics, porcelain, silver, jewelry and textiles.

The 2009 featured loan exhibit, Patriots and Presidents: Philadelphia Portrait Miniatures, 1760-1860, will chronicle more than a century of portrait miniatures, including those of Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia's most famous citizen, as well as former presidents and patriots. A collection of small, portable portraits depicting early Philadelphia's most prominent figures celebrates Philadelphia's history as the center of American government and commerce in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Philadelphia Hospitality invites you to plan a delightful multi-day program for your group of antiques enthusiasts. In addition to your private, docent-led tour of the Antiques Show prior to the show's public hours, your group's personalized program could include:

  • Attendance at the Antiques Show’s festive Preview Gala Reception and Dinner on the evening of Friday, April 17th. Each year, the highly anticipated Preview Gala inaugurates the four-day Show in truly grand fashion as a prominent sell-out event.

  • An early-morning private, docent-led tour of the Cézanne and Beyond exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, before the museum opens to the public

  • A visit to the renowned Barnes Foundation, home to one of the world's finest private collections of Impressionist, Post-impressionist and early-modern art

  • An excursion to the Brandywine Valley with visits to the Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens and Winterthur Museum and Country Estate

  • An opera, ballet or orchestral performance at the architecturally-acclaimed Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

  • And the signature piece of all Philadelphia Hospitality programs — a reception, lunch or afternoon tea in a private home or club
