Philadelphia Hospitality Patrons' Events

Become a Friend of Philadelphia Hospitality at the Patron level and enjoy a behind-the-scenes experience and reception at a noted Philadelphia landmark. Each year we highlight a different location in Philadelphia, where our Patrons enjoy an out-of-the-ordinary experience similar to those we provide for our visitors.

The 2007 Patrons' Event was held on January 14th at Barclay Prime, famed restaurateur Stephen Starr's "luxury boutique steakhouse" located on the first floor of the historic Barclay Building on Rittenhouse Square. This special evening enabled us to thank our generous friends for their support over the past year and to extend a warm welcome to the friends of Philadelphia Hospitality's new Executive Director, William (Bill) E. Mifflin.

Guests sampled a delectable array of gourmet hors d'oeuvres accompanied by fine wine and champagne. Acclaimed Chef James LoCascio chatted with the gathering that surrounded him and received their enthusiastic compliments as he presided over the carving table of Kobe fillet mignon. All offerings were thoroughly enjoyed, and guests agreed that Barclay Prime's celebrated Kobe sliders were indeed worthy of their fame.

Bill introduced his old friends to his new Philadelphia Hospitality family, thanked long-standing patrons for their support and, playfully, encouraged both groups to raise their hands and pledge assistance to our organization. He then introduced Starr Restaurants' Chief Operating Officer Howard Wein, who spoke of the benefit to our city when innovative and eclectic dining choices abound. And when he offered guests his private number for his assistance in securing hard-to-get reservations, their delight could be gauged by the countless cell phones that came out.

The evening ended on the sweetest of notes as our guests enjoyed Barclay Prime's delicious mini milk chocolate mousse cakes and banana cream cups and left with lovely gift bags designed by Starr Restaurants that included scrumptious truffles, a reminder of the elegance of the night.
