Each year Philadelphia Hospitality presents the prestigious Vision for Philadelphia Award to an extraordinary individual whose bold leadership generates worldwide recognition for Philadelphia.
It was our great honor to present the 2008 Vision for Philadelphia Award to Mayor Michael Nutter.
Mayor Nutter has worked tirelessly for Philadelphia's future - for citizen health, crime reduction, public school education, ethics reform, the arts, and tourism and hospitality. Through his dedicated vision, he has rekindled our pride in the city.
As former chairman of the Convention Center Authority, Mr. Nutter spearheaded its $700 million expansion - a forceful reminder of his commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry.
By leading the movement for a smoke-free Philadelphia, Mr. Nutter has enhanced the health of our citizens as well as that of visitors to our city. His travels throughout the nation to find workable solutions for urban issues have won him the respect of the region. His belief in public school education is a commitment the community embraces. And his zeal for ethical government, contagious through its intensity, expresses the aspirations of us all.
We are honored to recognize Mayor Michael Nutter for his inspired Vision for Philadelphia.
