Vision for Philadelphia Award

Annenberg FoundationEach spring Philadelphia Hospitality presents the prestigious Vision for Philadelphia Award in keeping with our work of highlighting the best of Philadelphia. The award honors a remarkable individual who recognizes the enormous value of our region's economic and cultural assets and dynamically leads Philadelphia toward a vibrant future.

Last year's 10th annual Vision for Philadelphia Award was presented to H.F. (Gerry) Lenfest.

About the 2003 Honoree

The 2003 Honoree's strong and long-standing commitment to the Philadelphia of today and tomorrow made him an exemplary recipient of Philadelphia Hospitality's Vision for Philadelphia Award.

As Chairman of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, he is benefiting future generations of Philadelphians through his extraordinary contributions to the museum's endowment fund. He is also spearheading the campaign to relocate the Barnes Foundation to Philadelphia, demonstrating true vision for the future of the cultural community.

Bringing together the Annenberg Foundation, The William Penn Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts, Gerry has been the catalyst in creating a challenge grant to increase the endowment for the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and its resident companies, and for The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Gerry is committed to building audiences for classical and chamber music, as well as for theater, dance, opera and the visual arts, demonstrated by his creation and dedicated support of a multi-year advertising campaign for the arts in Philadelphia.

In creating tomorrow's community, Gerry is a passionate supporter of education, quietly playing an important role in improving urban education, and most recently, making a major commitment to the Philadelphia school system.

We are proud to salute Gerry for his outstanding contributions to our community's cultural and educational life - and for his vision for its future.
